Condition Guide
Every item we sell gets a 1 to 5 star rating and a set of condition pills. The stars are calculated from the condition answers, never typed in by hand. This page explains exactly what each rating and pill means so there are no surprises at pickup.
On This Page
1. The Star Scale
Stars are color-coded so you can scan condition at a glance: green for 4-5★, yellow for 2-3★, and red for 1★. Tap the stars on any item card to see this explanation.
New and flawless. Works, no damage, nothing missing. The box may be opened or damaged; any box issue is shown as a pill.
Close to perfect: one small issue, or a used item in great shape. The pills say exactly what it is.
A couple of issues, or one bigger one such as major damage or not working. Check the pills, notes and photos.
Several issues. Expect repairs, cleaning or missing pieces. Good value if you can fix it up.
Doesn't work and has major damage or missing parts. Best for parts or repair.
2. New vs. Used
New
up to 5★Brand new and unused. A 5-star rating is only ever given to new items with no issues. The box doesn't change the stars: if it's opened, damaged or missing, you'll see a pill such as Box Damage or No Box.
Used
up to 4★Previously used or returned. Used items top out at 4 stars, even in great shape, so 5 stars always means new and flawless.
3. How We Calculate the Rating
Our listers answer the same short set of questions for every item: does it work, is it damaged, is anything missing, what's the box like, does it need assembly, and is it clean. The rating is calculated from those answers. Issues add up: every issue lowers the rating, so an item with two issues rates lower than an item with one.
- No issues: 5★ (new) or 4★ (used)
- One small issue (untested, minor damage, unknown parts…): 4★
- Two small issues, or one bigger one (major damage, not working): 3★
- Several issues: 2★
- Not working, major damage and missing parts: 1★
Example
A new bookshelf in an opened box with hundreds of pieces that weren't individually checked shows Damage Unknown and Unknown if Missing Parts. Two small issues, so it rates 3★. The same bookshelf still sealed in its box rates 5★.
4. What Each Condition Pill Means
Item cards show only the pills worth noticing (yellow and red). The item page shows every answer, green ones included. Green is good, yellow is unknown or minor, and red is a known problem, which always comes with a note explaining it when something is missing, damaged or not working.

5. "Sale Is Final" Items
Some listings are marked "SALE IS FINAL" — typically items with disclosed defects, missing parts, or damaged packaging. These items carry no warranty and cannot be returned under any circumstances.
The "Sale Is Final" designation is always shown clearly on the listing before you bid. By bidding on a "Sale Is Final" item, you waive any warranty rights for that item. See our Terms & Conditions for the full policy.
6. Photos Are Part of the Description
Every listing includes photos that show the actual item, not stock images. These photos are part of the condition disclosure — they may show cosmetic details (light scratches, packaging condition, etc.) that aren't spelled out in the written descriptors.
Before bidding, please review all photos carefully. It is your responsibility to inspect the photos and understand the item's condition. If anything isn't clear from the photos and descriptors, reach out before you bid.
